Installing sliding doors on subway platforms in order to prevent people from falling onto the tracks is way too expensive, so the MTA has created an information campaign in an attempt to make people more aware that going onto the tracks can kill you. Now the campaign has support from the Transport Workers Union Local 100 in the form of a rap video featuring the grim reaper. The music video is worth watching, but here's lyrical preview: "Every time I hear about a 12-9/ that means somebody didn't stay behind the yellow line./ Or they dropped something on the tracks/and just had to get it back./ But they ain't make it back up in time." For the uninitiated, "12-9" is the transit code for a body on the tracks. [NYDN; previously]
