Judge Judy Pockets $1.75M Selling Sherry Netherland Pad

New, 9 comments

The world's favorite retired Manhattan Family Court-turned-TV arbiter is likely getting her high today not from punishing alimony avoiders but (we hear from the Observer) from offloading her pied-a-terre at the Sherry Netherland for $8.5 million. Now in light of the fact that the priciest Sherry Netherland Hotel listing is a whopping $95M and Judge Judy herself makes in the neighborhood of $123,000 per day, this may seem like chump change. But Judith Sheindlin, famously intolerant of any bullshit, must know what she's doing. She and her husband bought the two-bedroom for $6.75 million back in 2009, a major PriceChop from its original ask of $15M. She did, however, want $9 million for the 11th-floor corner unit when it first went on the market almost six months ago. But maybe she's moving on from flowered upholstery, wood paneling, Central Park views, and a separate home office (doubles as a maid's room!) one floor above. Maybe she'd had enough negotiation drama in the courtroom, deciding that a $1.75 million profit was sufficient. No jury required.
