The Trump Soho hotel on Spring Street lost power for four and a half days after Hurricane Sandy barreled through town, which (it claims) resulted in more than $2 million in costs and lost revenue. Now it's suing its insurer, Affiliated FM, which denied its claim, to get its money back. But what makes this lawsuit different than all other lawsuits? It also names Con Edison, and an explosion at its 14th Street plant, as the cause of the outage, not flooding. Should a judge rule in the hotel's favor, many other Sandy-damaged buildings might be able to nab some compensation that was unavailable before. [Crain's; previously]
