Presuming the community board and the parks department sign off on the plan, expect a futuristic-slash-apocalyptic art installation to grace the East Village's First Street Park for the summer. The "Urban Forest" design by local artists Jieun Yang and Ji Young Ki topped dozens of other submissions, eschewing any traditional notions of foliage in favor of mirrored poles topped by translucent discs.
