Wall For Rent

New, 1 comment

To get some extra shekels in its treasury, a Soho co-op has decided to rent out its wall space along West Houston Street to arts group. The artsy plan started because the three-member Greene Street NYC collective approached the co-op with the idea for a mural of "reverse graffiti," which is just like those Scratch-Art things you made as a kid, but with a wall covered in dirt/paint/grime cleaned off in sections by a powerwasher instead of paper scratched by a pencil. The rental costs the group $5,000 for two months, and the co-op already has follow-up artist. [WSJ]
