At 7:36 this morning, New York Harbor witnessed the demolition of Building 877, the largest non-historic building on Governors Island. With the help of 200 pounds of dynamite, the Trust for Governors Island imploded the 11-story building to make way for a 30-acre park, which will include ball fields and a "hammock grove." Because everybody likes seeing stuff get blown up, the event was livestreamed, but for those poor devils who weren't awake at 7 a.m. on a Sunday and missed out, there's some raw footage on Mayor Bloomberg's YouTube.
