Bayard Street Air Space Invader Finally Reveals Itself

New, 11 comments

It has been nearly seven years since work first got started on 64 Bayard Street. You'd think that would be enough time for a 52-55 unit building to actually reach completion, but that is not the case here on Karl Fischer Row. The scaffolding recently came down on this air rights adventure (thank you, miss mousey brown for the photo!), revealing its facade to be more of a dull olive green rather than black like the rendering suggests. But other than the color difference, this long-awaited condo building closely resembles the non-Karl Fischer design revealed back in 2011. If Hot Karl's plans had been followed, we wouldn't have the fun cantilevered side, so let's all take a moment to be thankful for the change.

Last December, we foolishly reported that this place would be complete by spring, but that time has come and gone. The "penthouse" portion is still under construction, fencing still surrounds the site, and there is no sign of internet life (i.e. listings or a website) for this building, so who knows when it will finally come to market or whether it will be condos or rental.
