Politicians are working on legislation that would give tax abatements to landlords who open up their vacant lots for public use for at least 20 hours a week. The vacant lots, which, obviously, aren't being used for anything and also don't generate that much tax revenue, could be repurposed as temporary farms, gardens, and/or parks, much like the newly opened Havemeyer Park on Two Trees' Domino Sugar Factory Land, which features a bike track, urban farm, yoga field, amphitheater, movie screen, library, and food vendor.
