Noise Wars

New, 2 comments

Helicopters. Jackhammers. Home entertainment systems coupled with thin walls. New York is noisy, and the Times is on it. The culprit? EVERYTHING. That's right, from whirring mechanical equipment on the rooftops of high-rises to refrigerated Fresh Direct trucks to liberally granted construction permits that allow crews to work all night long, baby. Some affected residents move, some try to soundproof, and some just try to sleep through the night. The sad, loud minutiae of their stories, here. [NYT; previously]
