Swiss photographer Gus Petro visited the United States for the first time last year, splitting his days between New York City, the Grand Canyon, and the West Coast. Then juxtaposition between the urban density and vast, open emptiness of the canyon inspire him so much that he "had to express it somehow." The result is this amazing photo series in which he merged his images of the New York skyline with those of the Grand Canyon and Death Valley (h/t Atlantic Cities). He said the most interesting reaction has come from people who have never visited either locale. "Most of the people, who haven't been in any of these places, thought it was real," Petro said in an email. "They began questioning me where it is."
