This spring, owner Karlene Asadi dropped her 5BR/4.5BA duplex atop 62 Beach Street on the market for $14 million. Having paid just $7.1 million for the penthouse unit in 2010, many readers laughed at her ridiculous-sounding ask. "Bring in the PriceChopper!" they shouted (virtually, that is, in the comments section, and in all caps to boot). For once, though, the PriceChopper didn't listen, and the Observer reports that Asadi has found a buyer willing to bite for $13.75M. That's basically double what she paid less than three years ago, and, welp, that's one heckuva profit. The deal closed this week after entering contract in May. Maybe it was the flowery brokerbabble that did the trick?
