Say farewell to the neon Eagle Clothes sign that has long loomed over the corner of Third Avenue and Sixth Street in Gowanus. Building owner U-Haul has started dismantling the iconic sign after determining that adding two floors underneath it (which they plan to do) would make the entire structure taller than zoning allows. The company has made a vague commitment, however, to keeping pieces of the sign and incorporating them into the expanded building somehow. [DNAinfo; photo by Barry Yanowitz; previously]
