The beaches of Coney Island have reopened for the summer, but the shoreline is still in need of Hurricane Sandy repairs and storm preparedness measures. The Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $7.3 million contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company to reinforce the beaches and help prevent future flooding.
