Daniel Gets Demoted; Soho House Determined To Enter LES

This week's top dish from Eater NY, Curbed's restaurant, bar, and nightlife blog...

1) Upper East Side: NYT restaurant critic Pete Wells demoted Daniel from four stars to three, and then the world exploded.

2) Chelsea & FiDi & Chinatown: Dining guru Robert Sietsema has put together two indispensable guides: the first, to Chelsea Market; the second, to where to eat near jury duty in Manhattan.

3) Dumbo: Like so many others, the River Cafe is still shuttered from Sandy damage?even as babies conceived during the storm are popping out nine months later?but don't worry, management is working on getting it up and running this summer.

4) Lower East Side: In its attempts to expand to the LES, Soho House is not taking no for an answer from those nay-sayers on the community board, and has filed for a liquor license with the state instead.

5) Park Slope: Gentrification and rent hikes have claimed another victim, and this time it's Bar 4. Owners said: "[W]e must face the financial realities that have confronted so many other good, hardworking Brooklynites."
