The State Liquor Authority, responding to a push from Brooklyn community boards to withhold liquor licenses for new establishments that don't agree to early closing times, just rejected the application of proposed nightclub the Kemistry Lounge, which, its owners say, would have to close at 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in order to capitalize on crowds leaving the Barclays Center. Say what you will about NIMBYs and neighborhood desirability, but we can probably all take a little joy in the stamping out of a nightclub called the Kemistry Lounge. [WSJ; previously]
