Baccarat's Crystal Palace Gets Glassy On West 53rd Street

New, 8 comments

The hotel portion of the 50-story Baccarat Hotel & Residences at 20 West 53rd Street now dons its sleek, dark glass exterior, a custom curtain wall created by the architects at Skidmore Owings & Merrill. Installation of the facade is now underway for the higher floors, which hold the 61 condos. The curtain wall system consists of "insulated glass units with a high performance low-E coating," and in some units, it encloses double-height living spaces with sliding glass doors that lead to outdoor terraces. The street-level facade features a three-story, 55-foot "multi-faceted glass panel system," pictured above. Click through for photos and a few foorplans.

The residences came to market in March, and StreetEasy shows 16 listings in contract and 15 availabilities. The building website, however, has 13 active listings, including the $60 million penthouse and a duplex three-bedroom that has a terrace nearly as big as the entire apartment. Available one-bedrooms start at $3.4 million; two-bedrooms at $5.45 million; and three-bedrooms at $8.25 million. There is also one 4,545-square-foot four-bedroom, asking $23.5 million.
