New Details on Eichner's Flatiron Project

New, 5 comments

Back in May, we reported on embattled developer Ian Bruce Eichner's proposed project in the Flatiron District, and new details have now emerged. According to BuzzBuzzHome, the tower (at 41 East 22nd Street) will rise 718 feet, with 58 stories and 81 units. The building will feature private storage, a fitness center, and a triplex penthouse on the 56th through 58th floors (kudos to the anonymous commenter on our previous article who correctly predicted that last one). Oh, and as The Wall Street Journal reported earlier, the building will be shaped like a champagne flute, with a 50-foot wide base gradually expanding near the building's top. Eichner! You magnificent bon vivant!

To be fair, Eichner—who reportedly paid over $100 million for the property and air rights—could probably use a break. After slogging through the overflowing septic tank that was One Madison Park, he acquired the equally disastrous Harlem Park project because, like John McClane, he is drawn to fiasco and chaos.
