Midtown residents are pissed off at Extell and the Department of Buildings for allowing the developer dozens of after-hours variances to continue construction of One57 24 hours a day. Community meetings with the city and developer have solved nothing, and the DOB said "their job is to make sure construction gets done and noise is not [their] issue." The building is supposed to be complete later this year, and all those billionaire buyers would throw tantrums if their move-in date was delayed, so clearly the best option is to anger the neighbors and please the people who may or may not sometimes use their $90 million glass sky boxes.
