The West Village's oldest house just sold for $450,000 more than its ask, which just goes to show that it's not just towers o' new construction that lure buyers these days. Built in 1799, the well-maintained Isaac Hendricks House at 77 Bedford Street looks like George Washington could have bunked there last night and is overall rather awesome. That, and its tenuous connection to bald actor Yul Brynner (via his third ex-wife), must have launched some bidding war. If you're aching for a golden oldie, though, don't fret, because there are still a couple of others for sale. [TRD; previously]
