The New York Department of State, in a surprising(ly hilarious) move, has declared it illegal for New York brokers to adopt unearned corporate titles, such as senior vice president, senior managing director, second admiral viceroy of sales, etc. Firms are now busy trying to come up with new, legal titles ("senior global real estate adviser" is one) but are having trouble not sounding silly. Apparently, more than one broker wants to be called "Real Estate Queen," which is too bad because there's only one Dolly Lenz. [NYT; previously]
