St. Patrick's Cathedral and St. Bartholomew's Church are two Midtown institutions that could see a boost to their preservation funds from the sale of development rights in a rezoned Midtown East. Another area landmark, Lever House, would see that boost not to its preservation fund but to the bank account of owner the Korein family, which could net $75 million from the rights sale. This is not the first controversy the rezoning proposal has sparked. [NYT; previously]
