Mayoral hopeful George McDonald has settled an ugly lawsuit in which he and his wife were accused of forcing his father-in-law out of out the Upper East Side brownstone they had bought together in 1989. McDonald had paid $30,000 and his father-in-law, Emmanuel Karr, paid $250,000. Karr died in 2011 after he fell on the stairs in his new apartment, and his widow, Barbara Spector-Karr, claimed that McDonald owed his estate $1.33 million, 89 percent of the value of the loans that the McDonalds had taken out on the brownstone. Spector-Karr died in January, so the settlement will go to her three children, who continued to fight the case after her passing. [DNAinfo, via The Real Deal]
