Touring Gotham West's Masses Of Eleventh Avenue Rentals

The "piles of apartments" at Gotham West have attracted a lot of attention for their sheer number, and we finally got to see what's inside part of the four-tower megaproject. At 550 West 45th Street alone, there are 554 rental units with 80 different floorplans, from studios at $2,750 to three-bedrooms that go for $10,000-plus/month. They're not all dropping onto the market at once?cf. the 34 active listings on StreetEasy?but the leasing office is open with more available units if you ask. Tenants have already moved into a few apartments, but construction on some parts of the building, including the amenity space and the outdoor rooftop, will continue into the fall. Expect to find wide-plank flooring, a washer/dryer, spacious closets, large windows, and specially designed medicine cabinets (you'll see) in every unit. Communal activities like yoga in one of the courtyards, movie screenings on the roof deck, and a block-long retail space with trendy foodstuffs and a bike shop that reminds us of a mini Chelsea Market are on the docket, too. In a surprisingly effective marketing move we've seen before, each model apartment was decorated for a different type of person, right down to the music emanating from an iPod dock. We may be out in the not-quite-gentrified-yet boonies of the far West Side, but tongue-in-cheek slogans like "welcome to the most heavenly block in Hell's Kitchen" made us grin. Let's take a closer look.
