Viceroy New York Has Opening Date, Almost-Complete Facade

New, 6 comments

One of the most hotly anticipated hotel openings in the city is almost here (h/t Hotel Chatter). The Viceroy New York, yet another project vaulting upwards on 57th Street, is taking reservations for October 21 9 (according to official reps) and beyond, with the cheapest per-night rates starting at around $500. Courtesy of acclaimed design duo Roman and Williams?of the Standard, the Ace, the High Line Hotel, and more?check out some in-progress, we're-so-almost-there shots of the black brick, metal, and glass facade above. The industrial-glam image at left was accompanied by an excited Facebook caption: "Our 57th st tower is officially 331 feet tall - that's just enough to be defined as a SKYSCRAPER - just over the 100 meter official definition - that's just seriously bitchin'!" (We love them.) Expect 29 stories filled with 240 rooms that look like "tailored ships' cabins, with rich exotic woods, leather, a mix of metals, and rich brass finishings." Some will have Central Park views, and there are already floorplans for browsing. R&W's Stephen Alesch tells Curbed that he's "checking on the giant mural in the lobby today and racing to get the rooms complete!"
