Making Room Extends Run; A Midtown Rooftop Mystery

EAST HARLEM?The Museum of the City of New York's "Making Room" exhibition, which looks at new housing models to match demographic change?and where we spent 24 hours living in a micro-unit?has been extended through September 15. (It was originally set to close over Labor Day weekend.) The museum will also be giving away one piece of furniture from the micro-unit, the foldable ottomon/coffee table called the cubista. It was one of our favorite pieces of the unit, though we also had a little trouble putting it together. [CurbedWire Inbox]

HELL'S KITCHEN?A reader writes in with an inquiry about a structure that appeared on the roof of the old Mercedes building at 11th Avenue and 40th Street.

Can anyone shed light on what this is? [CurbedWire Inbox]
