In Midwood, residents are infuriated by the city's unwillingness to trim dead and diseased limbs from large trees on East 17th Street, which have been falling with startling frequency in recent months. One resident claims to have complained at least 15 times in the past four years, saying that "Someone will have to die in front of my house or my neighbor's house before someone comes and they act on it." According to 311, there are more than 2,200 outstanding tree complaints in Brooklyn, around 2,000 in Staten Island, and around 1,700 in Queens. Manhattan, on the other hand, yields around 160. [NYDN]
