Frederick Law Olmsted, part creator of Central and Prospect Parks, is a beloved dude in New York City, and Open Source Gallery in South Park Slope is paying homage to the landscaping genius with a six-week interactive exhibition. The show's title, We Know Not Exactly Where or How, comes from a the man himself. When Olmsted first visited England's Isle of Wight in 1850, he said "Gradually and silently the charm comes over us; we know not exactly where or how." The completely free exhibition will turn the gallery into a public park with events and displays that center around Olmsted's life and his core philosophy, "a strong belief in the unconscious effects of nature on the whole human." It runs through October 5th. [Open Source Gallery via WSP Blog]
