These days, renovated Brooklyn townhouses usually appear on the market as single-family homes seeking several million dollars, but the owners of 190 President Street in Carroll Gardens are mixing things up. The four-unit house was purchased two years ago for $2.125 million, and after some serious interior renovations, the units are back on the market. Brownstoner spotted the new listings on aptsandlofts.com, and three of the homes are still available. Here are the options: a full-floor 3BR/2BA asking $5,800; a 4BR/3BA ground floor duplex with a private garden for $8,500; and an upper level 5BR/2.5BA with a rooftop deck renting at $9,500.
Interior finished are pretty standard: hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, white kitchen cabinets, black granite countertops, and subway-tile lined bathrooms. The facade of the house is the worst part. While the neighbors have lovely ornamental lintels and cornices, 190 President Street has, well, nothing?which was apparently a choice by the owner. Brownstoner commenters pointed out that the house used to have a much lovelier light grey marble facade, similar to its neighbor's.
