As Ben Franklin once said, "nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes and people throwing a huge fit whenever there's a homeless shelter in their neighborhood." An Upper West Side group has filed suit demanding that the city shut down two homeless shelters, which have been operating since July, on West 95th Street. The suit makes all the usual claims of increased crime, trespassing, homeless people being icky, etc. It also states that "there are 30 [social-services] facilities in the surrounding square half mile from [the shelters]," which kind of seems like a lot.
