As if getting their license to operate extended for only a decade weren't enough, to add insult to injury, Madison Square Garden is also being lambasted by neighbors who believe their Eighth Avenue signage is too large. Community Board 5 has written to the DOB about the billboards' inappropriateness, which it says is especially true given the ugly light it casts on the historic Farley Post Office across the street. MSG replies that it holds a special permit allowing larger signs, and anyway, they are totally appropriate in the context of the Penn Station area, where, let's face it, there's a ton of blinding neon already.
