Upper East Side Party Penthouse Returns, Asks $17 Million

New, 19 comments

The party palace that just wouldn't sell has returned!

A few years back, this 6,265-square-foot penthouse at 120 East 87th Street hit the market asking $20 million. It struggled for while, chopping its price over and over again and finally settling at $14.8 million. Now, like the homicidal assassin robot its name calls to mind, #RPH-1ABC is back and out for blood, asking an eyebrow-raising $16.95 million.

To be fair, this place is nuts (if not particularly tasteful). With four bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, it features 14 foot ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, four exposures, a jacuzzi, a wood-paneled library, a massive terrace, and a separate "guest home" with private entrance. Just check out that floorplan; it almost makes us overlook the fact that the words "opulent," "rare," "sprawling," "expansive," "oversized," and "luxurious" appear in the listing a sum total of thirteen times. Almost.

What do you think? Will it sell after a two-year hiatus and a $2 million price increase? Let us know in the comments.
