At newly launched boutique condo conversion The Whitman, there are only four units up for grabs. The completely bonkers penthouse, listed at $25 million, is still on the market. Meanwhile, the bottom three?which are virtually identical capacious full-floor units with four bedrooms, 6-plus baths, and Madison Square Park views?have all sold after a brief stint on the market. But not to just any buyers, oh no. The fourth floor will be occupied by former First Kid Chelsea Clinton, whose early $10.5 million purchase made a major splash. Meanwhile, her neighbors aren't nobodies. Below, for the second floor, NASCAR great Jeff Gordon laid out $10 million?a tad more affordable than his sleek pad at celeb favorite 15 Central Park West, which he listed for $30M and entered contract last month. Now the Post reports that the third member of the triumvirate is hedge fund trader John Silvetz, who paid about $10M for his unit, too.
Clinton, Silvetz, and Gordon will essentially share a floorplan, defined by a large living room overlooking Madison Square Park, an epic hallway through the block that architect Jeffrey Cole says posed a design challenge, with a master bedroom in the back overlooking 27th Street.
That leaves the penthouse, which is about double the size of the other units at 10,000 square feet and has a terrace, roof deck, croquet pitch, and putting green. And four ovens, wine storage for 108 bottles, and grow lights for herbs. That's just the start. If the three buyers who've signed on thus far are any indication, the resident up top is likely to be another bold-faced name.
