Brooklyn Navy Yard Events; World Architecture Day Takes NYC

FORT GREENE?The Brooklyn Navy Yard is closing out summer with a bucketload of events. A sunset bike tour will show off the Yard's sustainable features, countertop manufacturer IceStone will welcome visitors into the factory, a new art exhibit at BLDG 92 focuses on women working the Yard, and a bus tour will let photographer shoot the waterfront complex from new areas. For a full list, visit BLDG 92's website. [CurbedWire Inbox; official]

GREENWICH VILLAGE?World Architecture Day launched in London last year, and now it's coming to New York. The Center for Architecture will host the three day event from Oct. 6 to 8, making it a part of the month-long Archtober event. This year's theme is "Towards Eight Billion," and events and speakers will focus on housing solutions, changing urban landscapes, and building on the water, among many other topics. It's a three-day summit packed with building tours and speakers that sounds like heaven for architecture and design lovers. The only downside is the price: £700 GBP each. Yikes.
