New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is expected to announce his support for extending PATH train service to Newark Airport. His support would almost definitely mean that the necessary $1 billion in funding would be allocated in the Port Authority's capital plan. The extension would create a cheaper and, for Downtown denizens, a more convenient public transit connection to and from Manhattan; currently the best option is a $12.50 New Jersey Transit ride from the armpit know as Penn Station. [Crain's; all PATH coverage]
