Almost a year after Superstorm Sandy rocked New York, the hard-hit neighborhood of Red Hook is sloooowly getting back on its feet. True, it took some businesses this long to reopen, and at least four shuttered for good. Merchants remain in debt, and fear a dip in customers as the weather gets colder. The Fairway's been back in action for awhile, though, which is what a lot of people care about. And a group of teenagers managed to turn lemons into, well, you know, by using FEMA grants to get free Wi-Fi set up in the area. [Crain's; photo by Nathan Kensinger]
