Coach Forbids HY Competition; Urban Outfitters' Liquor License

And now, the latest from Racked NY, shopping and retail from the sidewalks up...

1) Midtown West: Coach doesn't want any competitors nabbing office space in the Hudson Yards development, where it has secured headquarters in the South Tower. So much so that the company has explicitly banned Related from inking deals with Burberry, Polo Ralph Lauren, J. Crew, and others.

2) Nolita: Why Jay Kos moved his tony boutique from the Upper East Side down to Mott Street.

3) Williamsburg: We knew the new Urban Outfitters in the 'Burg was planning to serve drinks and food, but now we know it is eagerly awaiting its liquor license?and there's no guarantee approval is in the bag. In fact, Councilman Stephen Levin said, "Do we really want people drunk when they are buying their skinny jeans and ironic t-shirts?"

4) Citywide: Yesterday marked the first installment of a new weekly series telling you where to shop and what to do this week (and every week thereafer). Check it out.
