Architizer uses the Willets Point proposal, the Queensway, Hunter's Point, and other Queens projects to illustrate the ways in which Queens is "a microcosm of current conflicts in both New York City and urban design at large," including questions of public vs. private development, designing for climate change, and adaptive reuse. As Architizer puts it, "While these case studies are unique to Queens, a borough that is capable of spawning diverse cultural game changers from the Noguchi Museum to Nikki Minaj, the county's role as a fringe area of 19th- and 20th-century neighborhoods that have hosted successions of immigrants makes it emblematic of the sprawling yet hyper-stimulating spaces that abut most urban areas."
