After some Landmarks approval drama (An all-metal facade near the South Street Seaport? Heavens, no!) that swirled around 246 Front Street last year, it was approved and we forgot about it. The seven-story, six-unit luxury condo mixed-use building seemed at a standstill until construction started this week, and the site was promptly slapped with a stop work order (click on the photo, sent via tipster, to enlarge). But DOB records show that a violation for excavation without the proper permission has already been resolved, and a permit approved yesterday allows for work on the foundation to begin. It was probably some kind of paperwork snafu, so residents of Historic Front Street, get ready for construction! This'll be the finished product. [CurbedWire Inbox; previously]
