Evacuations

Residents of 188 Sixth Avenue, neighbor to Soho's in-progress One Vandam, were evacuated from their building yesterday afternoon after a resident called in a complaint that the building was shaking. When we swung by the site in the evening, residents were still waiting to be allowed inside. Metropolis reports that they were allowed back in around 8 p.m. and that there had been a little bit of building movement but "nothing of substance," according to a DOB engineer, and 188 Sixth remains stable.
