Remember when the Hyatt Union Square promised a hydroponic bamboo garden? That garden never appeared (or at least, it hasn't since the hotel opened), but we'll have another chance to see a hotel with plantings as part of the facade. A tipster passed along this rendering of the One Hotel in progress at 1414 Sixth Avenue?the rendering is the one currently on display on the construction fencing. Our tipster speculates that the ground floor will include retail and restaurant space and that the lobby is two stories tall. DOB permits indicate only that some work was being done on the building for "structural stability." Ian Schrager once planned to convert the hotel to a "six-star" inn, and while we doubt this will be anything like what he had in mind, the plants are a nice touch.
