In the future, every surviving church in New York City will probably sit under a big stack of condos. That's just the way things go. We can only hope that future conversions will a little more ... uh .... contextual than the one currently being carried out by architects Isaac & Stern. Developers Brookland Capital bought the poor, unsuspecting church at 1255 Bushwick Avenue for $1.95 million in June, and plan to convert it into a 32-unit condo building. If that addition doesn't get struck by lighting at least a dozen times within a month of its construction, something has gone very wrong.
