Perhaps best known for its once-slashed room rates and, later, for the debut of its party-rific rooftop bar with stellar views of of Manhattan, the Ravel Hotel is looking to redefine itself?and the nascent-but-actually-quite-established hospitality scene in Long Island City?yet again. It announced a $10 million expansion plan yesterday, which involves constructing a tower adjacent to its current location along the LIC waterfront that will contain 54 terraced guest rooms and two bridal suites (bringing the total to 119). It'll also have 35,000 square feet of outdoor space, a ballroom, a landscaped garden, and a pool that can convert to an ice rink in the winter. When will "The Estate at Ravel" (ouch) be ready? May 2014.
