Neighborhood Beefs

The United Nations is moving forward with plans for the 36-story U.N. Consolidated Building, and neighbors are not happy. Residents of Tudor City worry that the new building will block sunlight and cause more traffic headaches. Plus, people aren't thrilled that the tower will be build partially on a section of Robert Moses Playground, even though Asser Levy Place will be turned into new parkland as an exchange. But there is a silver lining: the U.N. agreed to pay $73 million to create waterfront open space and refurbish the former ConEd pier at 38th to 41st Streets. [DNAinfo; previously]
