Fortress of Glassitude Rebrands as?Oof?'Sky Couture'

New, 12 comments

Architect Christian de Portzamparc's 400 Park Avenue South, known around these parts as the Fortress of Glassitude, has had an incredibly long and fraught history for a building that doesn't even exist yet. But construction on the 40-story condo/rental building began in earnest earlier this year, and now the developers, Toll Brothers City Living and Equity Residential, have released a teaser site, revealing that the building will be called "Sky Couture," an obvious reference to the fact that it is going to be in the sky and also fashion. Apparently, calling it "High Fashion" would have been too easy. In addition, there's a new rendering (pictured, walking the runway like a real fashion superstar) which is glassier than we ever could have hoped.

The teaser site, which is very (fashionably) pink and purple, also reveals some vague information about the apartments themselves. As far as size goes, the units, which will have interiors by Stephen Alton, will range from 1BRs to 5BRs, and the pricing will range from $1 million to $10+ million. The building is expected to be completed by 2015, with sales launching later this year.
