The Standard East Village lost some of its construction fencing earlier this summer with the unveiling of its new garden, and a stroll down the Bowery today revealed another piece of the hotel's renovation is complete: the new front doors are wide open and welcoming visitors into the redesigned lobby. We snapped some photos of the new entrance, located in the townhouse at the corner of Cooper Square and East 5th Street. Workers were putting the finishing touches on the navy trim and polishing the stained glass windows, but overall, the place looks gorgeous. Construction fencing still surrounds the ground floor of the main building, but Eater NY recently reported that the restaurant, John Fraser's Restaurant at The Standard, will open the first week of December.
In other Standard hotel news, the brand's frontman, Andre Balazs, sold a majority stake in The Standard. According to a press release, he'll remain active as Chairman and "serve in an operational role in a newly formed management company, Standard International."
