Construction Begins Anew at Carroll Gardens Collapse Site

The building at 241 Carroll Street was seriously damaged in a brownstone collapse last year, and 241 Carroll was quickly demolished after the Department of Buildings declared it unsalvageable. But from the empty lot, a reconstruction is rising. A tipster informs us that construction work has begun on the site, so we headed over for a look. There's not to see yet?just a basic rendering up on construction fencing?but DOB permits reveal a few more details. The building owner hopes to reconstruct a four-story, four-family dwelling, like the one previously on the site. DOB records also show a partial stop work order on the site in relation to last year's demolition.
