445 Lafayette's $15M Glass Box in the Sky is Living the Dream

New, 13 comments

Penthouse 18, a 4,224-square-foot 3BR/3.5BA in Charles Gwathmey's 445 Lafayette Street, is asking $15.25 million after selling for $8.8 million in 2006. That was before it was featured in Spectacular Homes of Metro New York, however, thanks to a makeover from interior designer Kris Lajeskie (warning: elevator music). The apartment features a rock garden (underwhelming, as far as rock gardens go) and plenty of fancy imported finishes and light fixtures. But none of that really matters, because this place is all about the 11-foot-tall, floor-to-ceiling glass walls, which offer 360-degree Manhattan views. The common charges are an astronomical $13,750.
