New, 14 comments

Welcome back to The Six Digit Club, in which we take a look at a newish-to-market listing priced under $1 million, because nice things sometimes come in small packages. Send nominations to the tipline.

Price: $929,000
Address: 2621 Palisade Avenue #4B
Size: 3BR/2BA, 1,700 sq. ft.
Maintenance: $1,900 Yes, you read that correctly. Spuyten Duyvil. The Bronx.

Before you begin clutching your pearls in shock, here are the perks: it's a recently renovated, 1,700-square-foot three-bedroom, with hardwood flooring, a new kitchen, a cool layout, and a really lovely enclosed sunroom that looks out onto the Hudson River, the Palisades, and the George Washington Bridge. The building is full-service, with parking, a doorman, and a swimming pool, and all told, it's only $929,000.

The Times just featured an article talking up the virtues of Spuyten Duyvil, and honestly, listings like this definitely seem to support their claims. Is it a giant pain-in-the-ass to get to and from the city? Yes, absolutely, and while it's unlikely that the neighborhood will see a mass influx of Williamsburg exiles (actually, that's a strike in its favor), it's nice, quiet, and—perhaps most importantly—very affordable.
