This week in rehab clinic NIMBY news: a large group of Financial District residents have banded together to oppose the opening of a substance abuse treatment center at 2 Washington Street. Originally located on West 26th Street, the treatment center Exponents was recently forced out due to rising rent costs. Community Board 1 gathered to discuss the move, and while there was the expected vitriol ("You like to come to a neighborhood to destroy it!") there were also classic NIMBY responses from guilt-ridden residents who claimed to support the project but were upset that they didn't receive proper notification about the opening. That's the only issue they have with it, honest! [DNAinfo]
