Hand-Carved Pear Trees Greet Guests at 135 East 79th Street

New, 45 comments

The Brodsky Organization hit a home run with 135 East 79th Street. Not only did the condos sell crazy fast, but the William Sofield-designed structure, which harks back to the classic prewar buildings of old New York, is arguably one of the nicest new buildings in the city (even Curbed's commenters love the look). The building is nearly complete—closings are underway—and the full limestone and brick facade has been revealed. The developer's team sent a few recent shots of the building, highlighting the 20-foot-tall, hand-carved pear trees, complete with nesting birds, that frame the entrance. Not too shabby for new construction.
